Orthoptic Treatment of Anomalous Projection.

of Bruch'-s membrane at the optic n-erve. Three cases of partial cross ruptures of the optic nerve are reported histologically. All three are discovered at the very insertion of the lamina elastica chorioideae. The tear was caused in all cases (traumatic, expulsive haemorrhage and haemorrhagic glaucoma) by an instantaneous, probably arterial, subiretinal bleeding. Traumatic retropulsion of the optic nerve or propulsion of the bulb causes cross ruptures of the optic nerve, too, occurring at the same spot and leading to evulsion of the optic nerve.

Abnormal retinal correspondence; a preliminary report on the treatment of abnormal retinal correspondence by Cüppers' after-image method.
ABNORMAL retinal correspondence is found to be present in a considerable number of cases of concomitant strabismus. Muller (1826) thought that the anomalous projection was due to a congenital malposition of the macula of the squinting eye. It was suggested by von Graefe (1855) that the anomalous projection occurred as a result of the squint. Parinaud (1899) postulated that normal binocular func...
متن کاملPrognosis in cases of strabismus with special reference to orthoptic treatment.
WHEN orthoptic treatment was first practised it was thought that, if it were applied in cases of non-paralytic strabismus where there was good visual acuity in each eye, restoration of normal binocular function would invariably result. In the early 1930s it was not unusual for children suffering from squint to be subjected to countless sessions of treatment with reflecting stereoscopes in the h...
متن کاملEffects of orthoptic treatment on the CA/C and AC/A ratios in convergence insufficiency.
PURPOSE To evaluate the effect of orthoptic treatment on the AC/A (A, accommodation; C, convergence) and CA/C ratios in subjects with convergence insufficiency (CI). METHODS The change in AC/A and CA/C ratios after a 12-week period of home-based orthoptic treatment was examined in 10 subjects (mean age, 25.4+/-4.1 years [SD]). Both the AC/A and CA/C ratios were measured by using gradient resp...

متن کاملDevelopment of Normal Binocular Vision in Early Convergent Strabismus after Orthophoria.
A fundamental difference exists, from the sensory viewpoint, between the cases of constant squint developing before the third year of life and all the other forms of oculomotor imbalance. The first group is the one considered in the literature as that of "strabismus with anomalous correspondence". Must we consider the "anomalous correspondence" of these subjects as a system of corresponding ret...
